ICDE: Case Studies on Accessible and Universal Design
Innovation Center for Design Excellence: Case Studies on Accessible and Universal Design
ICDE Call for Articles
The Innovation Center for Design Excellence (www.icde.co) calls for articles discussing how accessible or universal design is taught within a classroom by showcasing student work that embraces this topic.
About
Innovation Center for Design Excellence: Case Studies on Accessible and Universal Design was established to create a series of biannual volumes for the betterment of design education and to create awareness of accessible and universal design principles, methodologies, and processes so that the world can be more accessible. This and future volumes advocate a cross-pollination of ideas and a broadening of perspectives encompassing how design can be and is being taught at universities around the globe. These disabilities are both cognitive, visual, auditory, speech, physical, neurological, or situational and exist in both digital and built environments. For these individuals with disabilities, unintentional barriers are ever present and create a lack of opportunity in both the digital and built environment. By publishing a series of in-depth articles, the creation of different paradigms can be studied and evaluated one topic at a time by peer review. ICDE hopes that the information within this resource finds its way into the classroom setting.
The Innovation Center for Design Excellence (ICDE) offers an in-depth resource for design education on accessible and universal design. We hope to fill some of the needs within the field. Although there have been contributions to the advancement of accessible and universal design, these offerings have not explored topics to the depth this journal will allow. Due to their nature, associations, and publications cannot reflect the diversity of many teaching methods. ICDE, on the other hand, provides a broad collection of in-depth resources that explore this topic and provoke awareness, communicate methodology, and advocates the process to all interested parties, no matter how isolated they may be.
For more information on how you can participate or become an ICDE ambassador, please email John T. Drew, ICDE Executive Director, at jdrew@fullerton.edu.
The Innovation Center for Design Excellence (ICDE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering educational opportunities for underprivileged design students.
